Is the BTEC Award in Security Operations a Technical Certificate for the Security Apprenticeship?

The SIA has agreed an additional exemption from the training of Part One of the SIA security guarding competency requirement against the NVQ in Providing Security Services. Those learners who have complete all Core Units and the following 4 Optional Units will be eligible for an exemption from SIA endorsed qualifications (such as the BTEC Award in Security Operations):
1. SLP 6 Maintain the security of property and premises through observation
2. SLP 7 Control entry to and exit from premises
3. SLP 8 Carry out searches of people and their property for unauthorized items
4. SLP 11 Arrest people suspected of committing an offence
The exemption relates to the training only and learner must still make the fire safety module from Part 1.

• Fire Training module only from Part 1 and Part 2 - Communication Skills and Conflict Management
Exams Required:
• Part 1 and Part 2
